Getting Started

Doing Business in Hong Kong and Macau

  • Export to Hong Kong and Macau – The U.S. Commercial Service in Hong Kong is responsible for U.S. export development activities in Hong Kong and Macau. They also work in collaboration with our China offices to promote exports to China, using Hong Kong as a springboard.
  • Export Food Products to Hong Kong and Macau – The primary role of our Agricultural Trade Office is to promote the export of U.S. agricultural products and to improve access for these products in foreign markets. The ATO takes the lead in promoting American food, fiber and forest products to Hong Kong importers and consumers.
  • Hong Kong and Macau Government Procurement – The Hong Kong Government is an original Party to the 1996 Plurilateral Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA). The Hong Kong Government maintains an English-language website for active government tenders: GovHK – Selling to the Government. The Government of Macau is not a party to the GPA. It maintains a Chinese language and Portuguese-language website for active government tenders.
  • The Business Information Database System (BIDS) – BIDS gives U.S. businesses up to the minute information about significant foreign government and multilateral development bank procurements. Through an interactive map interface, businesses can find new export opportunities, validated by U.S. government economic and commercial experts overseas. Public and private partners can link to or download BIDS data for matchmaking, analysis, or other purposes.
