Consular Services During the Rainy and Typhoon Season

Hong Kong’s rainy season is from late summer to autumn. If the Hong Kong Observatory announces a Black Rainstorm Warning or a Typhoon Signal 8, the Consulate General will close.

Individuals with appointments for U.S. passports, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, or notarial services will be contacted directly by the American Citizen Services Unit when we are able to reschedule your appointment.

Individuals with nonimmigrant visa appointments that were cancelled due to the typhoon or black Rainstorm Warning will receive an email inviting them to login in to their account to reschedule their appointment online.  All immigrant visa applicants can reschedule themselves using the Global Support System (GSS) website, and use their Case ID to choose a new appointment time.

Please check radio and television broadcasts or the Hong Kong Observatory’s website to check the latest weather conditions.
