On October 15, Consul General Hart spoke at a breast cancer awareness event hosted by Goldman Sachs as part of the firm’s initiative to raise awareness about the disease and support the Chinese government’s priority in two-cancer screening. CG Hart noted that former Secretary of State Clinton and Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong launched this public-private partnership with Goldman Sachs as part of the 2011 women’s pillar of the U.S.-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE). At the event, which featured local NGO and business leaders engaged in fighting breast cancer, CG Hart noted that supporting women’s success is one of the Consulate General’s top policy and outreach priorities. Goldman Sachs announced that, in line with 2015 CPE outcomes, they will commit new funding to the initiative. On October 18, the CG and members of the Consulate Community joined some of the same NGO leaders from the Goldman event in the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation’s annual “Pink Walk.”
