When the U.S.S. Boxer came to port in Hong Kong, the U.S. crew took the opportunity to spend some of their visit interacting with local students and engaging in cultural exchange. On March 23, the ship’s chaplain led a group of 13 sailors and marines to ELCHK Lutheran, a local Hong Kong secondary school, who welcomed the visiting crew with traditional Chinese tea and snacks. Afterwards, students practiced their English by asking sailors questions about life on the ship, as well as back home in the United States — the school’s media crew even interviewed two sailors for their daily student TV show! After the Q&A session, the sailors ended their visit by moving from the classroom to the gym, where they participated in a game of dodgeball.
