U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau partnered with Asia Society Hong Kong to bring famous Chinese-American chef Anita Lo to Hong Kong. Lo, owner of Annisa in New York City, visited May 27-June 1. The schedule included a dinner at the Asia Society’s annual Burton Levin lecture series, which aimed to recreate the meal Lo cooked at the White House for Chinese president Xi Jinping’s 2015 state visit, and a screening and discussion of The Search for General Tso, a documentary about the origins of American favorite, General Tso’s chicken. Chef Lo also hosted a dumpling making workshop for 100 Hong Kong youngsters. The chefs also taught a demonstration class for culinary students at the Polytechnic University, and joined a local food anthropologist and 20 guests for a food tour highlighting local delicacies.
