The Consul General opened the first Asia Regional Intellectual Property Rights Criminal Enforcement Workshop on March 8, 2017, organized in partnership with the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection agencies. In addition to Hong Kong SAR and the United States, the workshop brought together key law enforcement officials from 16 different countries in the region with the goal of developing and enforcing criminal laws against trademark counterfeiting, copyright infringement, and theft of trade secrets.
