Olympian freestyle swimmer Lia Neal visited Hong Kong on November 22, 2017 as part of a trip to the region that included stops in Singapore and Hong Kong. Lia won Olympic medals in 100 meter freestyle relay in 2012 and 2016. In Hong Kong, Lia spoke to 300 students at Pui Ying Secondary School, and did a mini-swimming workshop with more than a dozen swimmers from several local schools. Lia spoke in Cantonese about the influence of her African-American father and Chinese-American mother (originally from Guangzhou) on her decision to pursue swimming, the importance of balancing work with play, and the power of sports to bring people together.
