U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and passport holders from select countries with which CBP has International Arrangements may take advantage of this event to conveniently join Global Entry. Participation in the Global Entry program allows you to skip the lines, and proceed with little or no delay into the United States through Global Entry kiosks at major U.S. airports.
Global Entry also affords you the benefits of TSA Pre-Check for flights that originate in the United States. Members who are U.S. Citizens are eligible for expedited entry benefits in select countries, and to apply for the APEC Business Travel Card, which facilitates legitimate regional business travel.
The Global Entry application fee is $100 for all applicants. Once approved, the benefits are good for five years at which time membership must be renewed.
Applications for this event must be submitted to CBP online by January 4, 2018.
What is Global Entry?
Global Entry is a CBP program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members currently skip the lines, and enter the United States through automatic kiosks at 54 U.S. airports and 15 Preclearance locations around the world.
U.S. citizens and U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents may apply for Global Entry as well as passport holders from Argentina, Colombia, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Canadian citizens and residents enrolled in NEXUS may also use the Global Entry kiosks.
How Does the Global Entry Program Work?
At airports, program members proceed to Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingerprints on the scanner for fingerprint verification and complete a customs declaration. The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim and the exit.
Travelers must be pre-approved for the Global Entry program. All applicants undergo a rigorous background check and in-person interview before enrollment.
You can enroll in Global Entry even if you are unable to interview in Hong Kong. Just complete your application online, and then schedule an interview appointment at a Global Entry Enrollment Center in the United States or elsewhere, or do your interview upon arrival on your next trip to the United States through the Enrollment on Arrival program.
