The Consular Section closed November 13, 2017, for all visa and DropBox appointments as a precaution as local authorities and the U.S. Consulate General investigated an envelope containing white powder that was opened inside the Consulate General today. The incident has now been resolved. The safety of our personnel and visitors is a top priority, and we apologize for any inconvenience to our visa applicants and visitors.
The Consulate General is expected to open tomorrow, November 14, 2017, but we recommend applicants and visitors visit our website or contact us. Nonimmigrant Visa applicants whose appointments were cancelled today can reschedule through the “Apply for a U.S. Visa – Hong Kong and Macau” website. American Citizen Services and Immigrant Visa applicants will be contacted individually for rescheduling.
