Readout from U.S. Treasury Under Secretary Mandelker’s Hong Kong Visit

U.S. Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Sigal Mandelker met today with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, and the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau to discuss cooperation between the U.S. and Hong Kong Government on countering the North Korean threat. The Under Secretary discussed ways that the two governments can work together to enforce United Nations Security Council Resolutions against North Korea, standards on regulating virtual currencies, and safeguards that Hong Kong can implement to prevent illicit actors from accessing the international financial system. The Under Secretary’s visit to Hong Kong is part of a broader trip through Asia that includes stops in Beijing, Seoul, and Tokyo.
