Message for U.S. Citizens: U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau (July 5, 2021)

Location: Hong Kong

Event: The U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau has been informed that one Consulate General employee tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19. The employee in question does not work in an office that interacts with the public.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed the Consulate General on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 while awaiting the results of confirmation testing. At the same time, we are performing a deep cleaning and disinfection.

All scheduled services for U.S. Citizens and visa applications are cancelled on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. We will contact affected applicants directly as soon as we are able to reschedule these appointments.

The U.S. Consulate General takes seriously the prevention and containment of COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, we have abided by all Hong Kong government requirements for the arrival, testing, and quarantine of all diplomatic personnel and their family members. In coordination with Hong Kong authorities, the U.S. Consulate General has implemented all appropriate measures to help control the spread of COVID-19.
